Why this exists
Every camping app eventually drowns in stale pins, sock-puppet five-stars, and AI-generated “tips” that nobody actually verified on the ground. The fix is not more moderation tooling. The fix is naming the people whose contributions are anchored in real visits — and showing that signal honestly on every review they post.
The ambassador badge is that signal. It is not a status game. It is the team's public attestation that this contributor's notes have been ground-truthed against the criteria below, by a human, before the badge was granted. There is no automatic enrollment — the gate is review by the Muddy Tires team.
What earns the badge
- check_circle40+ verified check-ins. Real visits to spots already on the map, or new pins you added that survived community/moderator review.
- photo_camera5+ photo contributions. Your own photos, attached to spots or reviews. Stock images and screenshots do not count.
- mapGeographic coverage of at least one province. Pins clustered in a single town do not establish ground-truth across a region; we look for contributions spanning at least one Canadian province or territory.
These are thresholds, not guarantees. The team also looks at the quality of your notes, your responsiveness when a moderator flags a contribution, and whether your pins line up with what other contributors find on the ground.

Benefits are program perks, not payment. Ambassadors are not paid for reviews or photos; honest contributions stay the only currency.

What we will not do
- blockWe will not auto-promote anyone based on contribution counts alone. The thresholds gate review, not enrollment.
- blockWe will not pay ambassadors to post reviews or photos. Honest ground-truth is the only currency the badge represents.
- blockWe will not let the badge stay on accounts that stop ground-truthing, post AI-generated content, or break the contributor pledge. A badge revoked is honest; a badge that means nothing corrupts the whole signal.
